Aydan Kutu Ambalaj invests in HZKDX fully automatic windowed lamination (cellophane) machine

Founded in 1993 by Davut Ayhan in a 120 m² workshop in Ulus, Ankara, Aydan Kutu Ambalaj has grown through successive investments. Since 2014, the company has been managed by the second generation of the family. Earlier this year, it moved to a 5,000 m² facility in Kahramankazan Saray Mahallesi. The single-shift operation employs 35 personnel.

The company operates one four-color and one two-color offset printing press and recently invested in an 85 × 110 cm HZKDX fully automatic windowed lamination (cellophane) machine from Aysan Matbaa Makine ve Malzemeleri Ltd. Şti. Installed in the first week of March, the machine increased daily production by 6–7,000 sheets. Manager Mustafa Ayhan summarizes the machine’s impact:

“Our cellophane quality improved 100%, production increased, print quality visibility improved, and we can now serve windowed jobs better.”

Improved coverage and quality with hot adhesive
Previously using cold glue, Aydan Kutu now applies hot adhesive with the HZKDX. Mustafa Ayhan explains the benefits:

“Operating costs are roughly 30% lower than other machines, and electricity consumption is reduced. Since most of our work involves base prints, the HZKDX covers them very well, improving quality 100%. Jobs enter the machine directly from the offset press and, with hot glue, run smoothly, cleanly, and brightly. Another major advantage is excellent ink coverage on base prints. The Italian hot-knife system is HZKDX’s main feature. Metallic prints that other machines struggle with are fine for us. We can handle OPP and CPP materials at 30–35 microns perfectly.”

Aydan Kutu is considering a shorter, windowless model within the next year, but is first learning the current machine and observing market conditions.

Hands-on experience from early age
When asked how personnel shortages are addressed, Mustafa Ayhan replies:

“I personally step into production.”

Ayhan has been involved in production since age eight, starting with manual cellophane machines and assembling paper pallets by hand. His education includes Aktaş Atatürk Industrial Vocational High School, Printing Department, and a two-year Printing Technologies program at Tokat Gaziosmanpaşa University. He now applies AI in packaging design.

Previous investments included 4–6 point carton folding-gluing machines and 70 × 100 die-cut machines with foil stamping units.

Production and exports

“Approximately 50% of our boxes are pastry packaging, including fresh cake boxes. We produce an average of 300,000 boxes daily and export around two containers per month to France, Germany, and the USA, representing 30% of our production.”

Cost savings and efficiency
Özgür Uz, Ankara Regional Manager at Aysan Matbaa Makine ve Malzemeleri Ltd. Şti., comments:

“We are pleased that Aydan Kutu selected our Italian-partnered KDX fully automatic hot lamination machine. Key advantages such as electricity and adhesive savings help offset rising production costs. The machine’s steel structure is continually developed, and the knife features Italian technology.

Alongside Aydan Kutu, we also supplied windowless lamination machines to Özkutsan Ambalaj and Altan Özyurt Matbaacılık in Ankara. Customer satisfaction indicates these investments will continue to grow.”
